How a Full Arch Replacement Will Change Your Life

Dental implants have come a long way over the years. For those who are missing all of their teeth, for a long time, dentures were the only solution. But dentures require adhesives that are not reliable, allowing them to fall out at the most inopportune times.

Fast forward to now and there are solutions! In fact, a full dental arch replacement may be just what is needed.

Permanent

A dental arch will take multiple visits to the dentist, with plenty of time between visits for healing. The procedure requires the installation of dental implants that function as the tooth roots. Temporary teeth are installed while the lab gets to work creating a permanent bridge.

The process for a dental implant procedure varies by patient. Every mouth is different, and the procedure depends on the condition of the jawbone.

The jawbone is given time to heal as the artificial tooth roots infuse to the bone. Once it has healed, abutments are placed, followed by the permanent bridge. In all, it takes between two to three visits over the course of several months, depending on the time needed to heal.

This is a permanent fixture, so while it needs to be maintained and cared for, it will not need to be replaced.

Stable

A major benefit of installing a dental arch as opposed to keeping the dentures is that it provides stability. Gone are the days of worrying about laughing too hard and losing your teeth, or wondering if eating or talking will slide teeth out of position.

The solid artificial roots are bonded to the jawbone. This creates stability and a strong bite. A dental arch functions just like natural teeth. It allows for eating a wider variety of foods and gives the owner security and confidence.

Aesthetically pleasing

Dental arches provide stable support for a fixed bridge that looks like natural teeth. The artificial roots provide the bridge with a more secure foundation and a stronger bite. It protects against bone loss and can actually stimulate bone growth. This protects the face’s structure preventing it from sinking in, which is common with dentures.

Oral hygiene routine

While false teeth are less prone to stains, it is important to continue to avoid foods that stain your teeth, such as tobacco products, coffee, teas and sodas. Do not chew on ice or hard candy, as crowns, though durable, can break.

Continue to brush at least twice a day, flossing and using a mouthwash. To get your dental work extra clean special designed brushes and picks are available. Make sure you continue to see your dentist regularly, one to two times a year. Let your provider know if you experience any pain, swelling or discomfort.

Enjoy your new smile! Show it off confidently. Eat what you love, laugh hard, eat out with friends and family, do not be silent and speak your mind. A dental arch replacement will provide you with a higher quality of life. Go out and enjoy it!
