Natural-Looking Implant Supported Dentures That Don’t Slip

If you have multiple missing teeth, your dentist may suggest implant-supported dentures. Unlike traditional dentures that get placed on top of your gums, implant-supported dentures are docked to your jawbone so they won’t slip out. Many of our patients are appreciating us for being capable of eating, talking, and smiling with confidence. Read on to learn more about dentures and whether you’re a prospect for the process. You can also call our dental office in Overland Park to get implant-supported dentures or schedule a consultation with our professional dental implant dentist.

Implant-Supported Dentures For Your Long-Lasting Smile

An implant-supported denture is a type of overdenture that replaces multiple teeth at once. If you’ve so many missing teeth, we may suggest dentures. Your overdenture will need at least two dental implants for mounting. However, our dentist typically advises all-on-4 implants for the best result. Attachments get placed beneath the denture that combines the implants. When placed in the mouth, the denture fits over the dental implants, keeping them steady and safe. Later you will be thanking the dentists to make you able to enjoy more foods with implant-supported dentures than you would with traditional dentures.

Candidates

To be a candidate for implant-supported dentures, you must have adequate jaw bone thickness for the course. However, our dentist may suggest a bone graft to help support your dental implants. You must also have healthy gum tissue and a wholesome immune system before you go for oral surgery.

Procedure

A dental implant is a prosthetic tooth root made of a titanium alloy used to anchor a dental crown. If you have adequate jaw bone density, we’ll go forward and put the implants in your jaw. Otherwise, you’ll need a different approach for a bone graft. Over the next few months, the implant-supported dentures will connect to your jaw in a procedure called osseointegration. During this time, our dental implant dentist will review your improvement to make sure you’re recovering properly.

Once you’ve thoroughly healed from dental implant surgery, we’ll snap the arch of artificial teeth into position. Like traditional dentures, your implant-supported dentures will have an acrylic base to appear like your gums. Many of our patients appreciate us for providing a solution that looks and feels like natural teeth.

Aftercare

Care for your implant-supported dentures like you would care for your natural teeth. It means brushing your teeth twice a day & flossing once a day. The dentures are removable, so you can take them off & clean them place them in a glass of water before going to bed. But this is not the case in dentures. You cant remove your dentures out of your mouth for cleaning. You have to take care of them through brushing & flossing daily.
